Delicate Blue Details For This Bourne Mansion Wedding
Just 90 minutes from New York City, Bourne Mansion awaits to transport its guests to what feels like a world away, Great Gatsby style. Stacey and Hsin knew they wanted a classic wedding, timeless in style, and when they visited Bourne Mansion, they immediately fell in love with it and had no second thoughts about booking the venue for their Long Island wedding.
To Stacey, Bourne Mansion was reminiscent of Downton Abbey, and the sprawling outdoor lawn that surrounded the Vanderbilt mansion offered the strong outdoor/indoor combination she had been envisioning. By incorporating dusty French blue, ivory, sage green, and hints of silver to their wedding details, and by adding natural greenery and white florals to create an “indoor garden” feel in the grand ballroom, Stacey and Hsin’s Bourne Mansion wedding exuded nothing short of grandeur and luxury.
With Bourne Mansion offering so much sophistication and personality already, the bride knew she didn’t want to do too much to distract from the venue’s aesthetics, so she kept it simple with a bouquet of white tulips tied together with a French blue ribbon. The ceremony arch kept in line with the white floral theme with white flowers and lush greens.
An additional blue detail was seen in the form of an oval sapphire ring with a diamond halo that belonged to Stacey’s maternal grandmother.
The stunning view of Bourne Mansion offset by red brick and white pillars was a breathtaking view in the background as the wedding guests gathered on the lawn for Stacey and Hsin’s ceremony before they moved the reception indoors into the main ballroom, featuring 40-ft vaulted ceilings, wood floors, textured wallpaper, gilded finishes, and a magnificent skylight with a decorative glass dome. At each reception table, lustrous branches covered in orange blossoms with gold candelabras served as centerpieces. Everything was like works of art and came together beautifully for the happy couple’s Bourne Mansion wedding.
When asked about advice for couples planning their weddings, Stacey offered some insight she learned from her own experience. “Focus on having the right vendors. When they are experienced, responsive, and personable, they will come to your rescue at your most desperate moments and save the day. Be prepared to take lots of mental pictures on the day of the wedding. When things get tough, they will surely lift your spirits.”
She went on to add some suggestions on navigating the stress of wedding planning. “When things get a little too crazy while planning, refocus your vision on the big picture. Zoom out and take a deep breath! For example, we chose our venue first based on the overall style. I picked my wedding gown after the venue had been decided. Don’t let the little details (which the guests or you won’t remember), get to you! Lastly, have fun.”
