How did you make your way to working at NST Pictures?
After studying film and video production at the University of Michigan, I stayed an extra year to work on a documentary in Detroit – Walk With Me: The Trials of Damon J. Keith. After the completion of that project, I decided to take advantage of not being tied-down to anyone or anything, and taught English at a high school in the Paris suburbs. Upon returning, I worked as a freelancer in the photo and film industry before coming to NST.
Why did you choose the wedding industry?
I worked as a photo assistant at weddings for a couple summers and thought it was fun to see how the couples had so many different traditions and customs.
What do you like about working at NST Pictures?
The group of women who run NST Pictures are so inspiring, encouraging, and creative and support a great work environment. Everyone is willing to help each other out and we have a lot of fun along the way.
What is your favorite part of your job as NST’s Production Coordinator?
I love reviewing the footage from the cinematographers before it has been edited. I get to see all of the behind the scenes from the weddings that most people don’t get to see.
You’ve coordinated hundreds of weddings (literally!) so what wedding videography advice do you have for couples?
Definitely hire two cinematographers. There is so much more that can be done with footage from two cinematographers and two angles. It really makes a huge difference.
Outside of NST, what other artistic passions do you pursue?
I try to take many different styles of dance classes and attend salsa and ballroom dance socials on the weekends. I also enjoy knitting, especially while watching movies or catching up on Netflix shows. I just finished my second sweater!
You’re more than just a wedding expert though, so to get to know you better, tell us about your ideal day off of work!
My ideal day off includes sleeping in late, brunch, then perhaps a long walk or going to a movie, then salsa dancing with friends after dinner!
