Meet Two of a Kind New York Event Rentals
We love meeting awesome wedding vendors in the New York area! We met Two of a Kind at one of our recent styled shoots at The DL! Check out this interview with Krista Li, the founder of Two of a Kind.
1. Why did you decide to start an event rental company?
Two of a Kind will be turning 1 years old in the Spring this year. Time flies when you’re having fun! The company was launched after having planned an event myself in New York City which left me feeling unsatisfied with the rental options out there. Each event has a unique character of its own and my aesthetics didn’t seem to fall in line with any one rental company in the area. After chatting with event planners, production companies and stylists to get outsider opinions, I took matters into my own hands and wallah…Two of a Kind was born!
2. How would you describe the style of your inventory?
A lot of the items we carry are pieces which are either really hard to find elsewhere in the rental industry or are well over priced. Our goal is to offer trend-forward rentals to the event industry at a fraction of the cost. We also dial into what planners are asking for each season and try to refresh our inventory based on the needs of our clients.
3. Do you have a favorite rental piece in your inventory?
By far, my favorite piece is our brand new Metal Pipe Wooden Dining Table which is absolutely gorgeous. My second favorite would be hands down our Oversized 24″ BAR Marquee lights.
4.What do you do to understand a couple’s vision and bring it to life?
We try our best to run with the inspiration that each client gives us to create custom rental packages. Whether it’s sorting through our client’s event Pinterest board, hearing more details over the phone, or doing a venue walk-through, there are many ways to collaborate.
5. What’s the most important thing that couples should know about renting decor, furniture and other items for their wedding?
My top suggestion for our clients is to book their event rentals quickly and to not wait until the last minute to reserve them. During busy season, it’s hard to reserve our items just a few weeks in advance. I would suggest putting rentals on hold a few months in advance if time allows. This way we know for sure they’ll be available!
