Exploring different coasts with the love of your life is a spectacular honeymoon. It feeds your adventurous spirits by giving you all new experiences. Plus, you get to collaborate on every detail and have a peek at what married life looks like.
Follow these tips and look forward to a long and romantic drive.
1. Plan Out Your Route for your RV Honeymoon
Try to have a clear picture of where you want to go and what you want to see. Route 66 is infamous for how romantic and historic it is, starting couples off in Chicago before ending in the City of Angels. This road trip could take a good one to two weeks, depending on how long you stick around in certain areas.
List all of the tourist attractions along the way and note which ones you and your future spouse would want to stay at for a little while. You can also flip a coin and let fate decide on the areas that you’re still indecisive about.
2. Pick the Right RV
There are hundreds of RV options to choose from for your trip. Make sure you rent out the right one for the job. Class B RVs are comfortable enough for three people and have a good number of amenities. Class Cs are a little larger but surprisingly easier to drive, making it more attractive for first-time road trippers.
Compare different units and their daily rental rates. You can also request suggestions from friends and family who have gone on similar adventures in the past. The more accurate the cost estimate, the better it is for your honeymoon budget.

3. Pack Wisely
Be well-prepared to be away from home for a long time. Clothes and toiletries are a must, along with items to stay comfortable. About 34% of Americans forget to pack the charger for their devices, so add it to the travel bag as soon as possible.
There are some things you can leave behind. For example, you can grab food or dine out at restaurants instead of packing two weeks’ worth of groceries. Just bring along the cookware for spontaneous cooking sessions.
4. Figure Out When to Go on your RV Honeymoon
After narrowing down where you’re going, it’s time to decide when to go. Timing is everything, much like when you’re planning the wedding. Some postpone the RV honeymoon until after the celebrations have settled down, while others want to follow it up.
Either way, consider the peak and off-peak travel seasons. Leaving in the middle of the week is also much cheaper than the start or end of weekends.
5. Learn How to Discard Your Waste
Remember to take out the trash while you’re traveling! A clean RV is much better to travel in, after all. There should be garbage bins along the way you can access.
The bathroom waste disposal may be the least romantic conversation you’ll have with the love of your life. Thankfully, dumping what’s in the tank is as easy as connecting the hose with the sewers and flushing it out. The fixture will likely be on the exterior by the bumper, but you can check the instruction manual.

6. Set the Record on Your Routine
You and your partner should be on the same page about how to spend the road trip. Is there a specific time you should wake up, or would you rather sleep in? Are you making breakfast or hunting for a diner to try? Do you take turns driving throughout the afternoon or evening, or do you swap day by day?
7. Calculate Your Finances
Make sure you have enough wiggle room in your finances for unforeseen expenses, especially for gasoline prices. They are roughly $3 per gallon, though it varies depending on the week and area.
Some travelers may calculate the approximate amount by dividing the miles of your expected road trip by your RV’s miles per gallon. Multiply that number by the gas price in your area.
8. Capture the Moments on Camera
Remember to record all the fun that you’re having! Whether it’s pictures or videos, you will love looking back at your adventure. A full movie dedicated to your road trip can also be quite the time capsule to look back on.
Have a Wonderful Honeymoon on the Road
There are many aspects to consider and prepare for with an RV road trip, but that’s what makes the journey so exciting. Whether you want to plan everything each day or be a little spontaneous, strap yourselves in and remember the tips above!
