A Classic Wedding at Loeb Boathouse in Central Park

Our #1 Reason to Watch this Artistic Wedding Video

We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again: Jillian and John planned the ideal classic NYC wedding. If you need inspo to help you plan a wedding that will stand the test of time, this is a perfect jumping off point. The maid of honor mentions Jillian and John’s childlike spirit but there is nothing childish about this sophisticated fete in the city that never sleeps. From the simple, black bridesmaids dresses to John’s while tux jacket (we’ll get into that later!), this wedding checks all the boxes on our list.

A Classic Wedding Tux with the Perfect Fit

John wore a handsome black tux during the ceremony. He also had also had a wardrobe change for the reception. He switched into a white jacket tux–one of our all-time-favorite looks. There’s nothing like a man in white! A black bow tie and white suspenders complete his look.

Jillian’s Lace Off-the-Shoulder Wedding Dress

When it comes to Jillian’s attire, we can’t decide which wedding dress we love more. Her classic, off-the-shoulder lace gown is a stunner, while her party dress, a criss-cross halter with a sexy little cut out just above the waist, is equally as beautiful. The scalloped neckline of the lace on her ceremony gown is to die for and we love the quarter-length sleeves too!

Both dresses are so flattering–it’s no wonder she couldn’t choose just one! We love the addition of her simple stud earrings with her sweet and classic wedding up-do, as well has her cathedral-length veil.

Off-the-shoulder is back in style, and we’re loving it, but have you ever tried to dance with an off-the-shoulder top at a bar? You can’t really put your arms up! If you love this look but also love to get down on the dancefloor, consider a second dress, like Jillian.

NYC Church Weddings

Nothing says “classic” more than a church wedding in the heart of Manhattan. Jillian and John shared the standard “for better or for worse” vows at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola on Park Avenue. The church has high ceilings and is covered in gold details.

A Sophisticated Best Man Speech

We’ve heard the good, bad and the ugly from best men who didn’t quite do their research on how to write a killer wedding toast and this is none of those. John’s best man does an amazing job of keeping it classy, while toasting to Jillian and John’s beautiful relationship and how their parents set a wonderful example for their children.

A Classic Wedding at Loeb Central Park Boathouse

The couple couldn’t think of a more perfect venue than the Loeb Boathouse, nestled in Central Park. The beautiful lit windows make the greenery of the park into the perfect backdrop for the reception toasts. We’ve filmed many weddings here and we never get tired of watching them because this NYC wedding venue sets a gorgeous scene.

Candle-Lit Wedding Reception

White hydrangeas, pink roses and greenery graced the tables lined with gold chargers.

The lights were low and the setting was romantic, but that didn’t stop Jillian and John’s crew from getting down on the dance floor as the band played along. We love seeing the non-stop energy as the night trailed off into another beautiful day in New York.

Wedding Planning Advice for a Classic Wedding

“That’s an ugly wedding!” said no one ever about a classic wedding. There are some things that will never, and we mean NEVER, go out of style because they are simple on the eyes and/or universally flattering: black and white, A-line gowns, black tuxes.

Sure, your wild college roommate with the pink hair might allude to your wedding being boring but if your go-to date night outfit is a little black dress with a neckline that both Audrey Hepburn and Posh Spice could rock, it’s probably within your best interest to keep it simple, classic and chic.
