Most of our guests were from out of town, because we met when we moved to Los Angeles. We strove to create a fully inclusive experience for our guests who were taking a whole weekend out of their extremely busy lives to come celebrate with us. It was very important that our wedding felt grounded and comfortable. For our ceremony, we did an entirely Beatles playlist, which we knew would put most of our guests at ease, but also bring a fun, unique element to the experience. We also made our grand entrance to the Star Wars theme song! Ben and I were all about having fun and celebrating the love we have for each other. We didn’t want our wedding to feel stuffy or too serious.
We decided to mix several different aesthetics and it ended up working beautifully together. Ben’s family is from Texas, so we incorporated some Southern, traditional American elements, such as a Whiskey & Cigar bar, but kept with our romantic, whimsical theme for the major decor elements. It’s actually quite representative of who Ben & I are as people and a couple. We kept the florals lush, but fresh, the lighting was a soft wash, with twinkly lights and chandeliers, and we kept the tent open, so our guests could see the stars.
Vikki & Shannon were a perfect fit for us. They helped manage stress throughout the planning process and always had meaningful advice to offer. They helped manage and bring to life some of our more ‘out there’ ideas. S&V were fun, creative and extremely attentive from day one until the day of the wedding when they kept everything running smoothly. Because of these two ladies, our wedding was seamless and beautiful. They are one of the best decisions we made during the whole process.
Jonathan’s photography immediately captured our hearts. He has an extremely detailed eye and captures the most incredible moments that half the time we weren’t even aware were even happening. His photojournalist style was exactly what we were looking for (we knew it would go by quickly), but he brings an artistry to his work that is unmatched by most of the fine art photographers we found. He was fun, laid back and thorough. Jonathan was a perfect fit for us. His work is extraordinary.
My dress was by Hayley Paige for JLM Couture. Hayley’s designs caught my eye immediately when I began looking through bridal magazines for dress ideas. I went to her trunk show in Los Angeles first and tried on only 3 gowns before I found the dress I knew was meant for me. It was the perfect shape for my body, with delicate crystal, lace and tulle detailing. It was the fairy tale dress I had imagined. The look on Ben’s face was priceless when he saw me for the first time at the end of the aisle!
Ben and I met while I was waiting tables at a local bar. He was there with a group of friends, but was afraid to talk to me, so he had one of the girls break the ice! We became friends, and then best friends and one day found ourselves head over heels. Our relationship grew organically and is the most fulfilling thing in either of our lives. We are still best friends. He is supportive, makes me laugh, teaches me new things every day, and we are building a beautiful life together.
