Buttermilk Falls Inn Wedding Video: Going the Distance

Surrounded by family and friends, Elaine and William tied the knot at the idyllic Buttermilk Falls Inn with a heartwarming, tented ceremony. The rain that day didn’t stop them from reveling, nor did it put any damper on the elegance and romance. As the happy couple celebrated their unique love story, we were there to film their wedding video while Michelle Wolfe Photography captured all the magic with her camera!

Elaine and William had met at the end of January in 2010. After 18 months of dating Elaine in New York City, William received a job offer in Asia – an opportunity he couldn’t turn down. After asking friends for advice and realizing that Elaine was ‘The One’ for him, he asked her to join him in Hong Kong, and she accepted!

Elaine and William have been abroad in Hong Kong for almost five years, but they knew they wanted to return to New York for their wedding, where the majority of their friends and family were. Hudson Valley proved to be an obvious choice, as it satisfied Elaine’s wish for an outdoor wedding and was conveniently close to the city. It was also where Elaine had grown up – her parent’s house was a mere 10-15 minute drive away! With the perfect balance of river views, gardens, and great food, Buttermilk Falls provided the perfect backdrop for the happy couple to tie the knot.

Personal Accents
In designing her wedding, Elaine knew she wanted something timeless that complemented the beauty of the venue, so she went for soft pastel colors, as seen with the fresh pink florals in mismatched vintage bottles that complemented gilded candles on top of the farm-style tables. To add some vibrant contrast, she also picked ‘rich peacock’ as the color for the bridesmaids’ dresses.

Incorporating some Hong Kong elements into the wedding was also important, since it’s their home overseas, so the bride had her gown made by a local tailor, provided ‘fortune’ favor boxes with their Chinese names embedded in the design, and enlisted the stationery design skills from a friend she had met in Hong Kong.
